About Quick.as

What?

One homepage for all devices. Quick.as allows you to create a homepage or "personal portal" that is accessible on your computer or mobile phone. It allows user to quickly access sites optimized for the device that they are using (e.g. iphone.ebay.com for an iPhone and m.ebay.com for a RAZR, etc.).

Quick.as enhances web browsing productivity through:

• Quick Search. Search multiple sites from the one search bar. Use a drop-down or commands (e.g. "gm Mt Erica Hotel" will search Google Maps)
• Quick Links. Like favourites/bookmarks. They can be accessed via keyboard shortcuts or clicking on links. They are automatically detected from browsing history, or can be customized.

More and more mobile web usage is outside of the "walled gardens" mobile networks have setup. There is no reason why peoples browsing habbists should not be the same as on their PC. Quick.as allows this to happen.

Why?

• It's difficult to type on mobile devices (iPhone and mobile optimized versions, and iPhone app).
• It’s hard to remember mobile optimized URLs (example.mobi, m.example.com, example.com/m, etc.).
• Provides consistent method to accessing web content on all devices.
• People don't want to be locked in to walled garden of services/sites/portals.
• Quick.as is independent and does not push services from any particular property (Google, Yahoo, MSN).
• Off-portal mobile browsing is becoming more prevalent yet not simple to access.
• People increasingly go to the same information sources. Quick.as gets them there quicker.
• With intuitive design, Quick.as is bringing keyboard shortcuts to the masses (not just the tech savvy).

Who?

Quick.as was created and developed by Raef Akehurst of Beep Interactive Pty. Ltd. Beep was founded by Raef and Karl Edwards in 2004. Beep operates an online bulk SMS sending service (smsGeezer), a service allowing you to record audio, video and take photos directly from a web site (Recordle), and previously operated a service that allowed you to send anonymous and masked SMS (19secret). Beep aims to keep things simple ... make things easy to use! Beep develops and deploys web and mobile solutions across an array of different platforms and technologies.
